At Mdundo, we invite you to embark on a journey through the captivating dances, drum rhythms and enchanting folk songs of East Africa. Found in British Columbia Canada, our art Program preserves and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of East Africa. This is through teaching and performing traditional dances, music, and drum rhythms.

Our programs provide a platform for cultural exchange, exploration and artistic expression.

Mdundo Arts also conducts workshops that reach different demographics from elementary schools to tertiary institutions, elderly communities, and other groups with a passion for artistic expression.

  1. Traditional Dance Classes: Immerse yourself in the colourful tapestry of East African dance forms. Our experienced instructors guide students of all ages and skill levels through energetic, expressive, and rhythmic dances that have been passed down through generations.
  2. Music Workshops: Unlock the melodies of East Africa through our interactive music workshops. Discover the intricate rhythms of traditional folk songs that have shaped the region’s musical landscape. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or a curious beginner, our workshops provide a hands-on exploration of East African musical traditions.
  3. Drum Rhythm Sessions: Feel the heartbeat of East Africa in our engaging drum rhythm sessions. Our skilled drummers teach the art of rhythm and percussion, allowing you to connect with the pulse of traditional East African drums. Experience the power and camaraderie that come from creating music together as you learn to communicate through the universal language of rhythm.
  4. Folk songs and Storytelling: Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of East African folklore. Our folk storytelling sessions transport you to a realm of captivating tales, myths, and legends that have been passed down through generations.   5. Cultural Events and Performances: Mdundo Arts is not just a school; it’s a vibrant cultural hub. Join us for captivating performances that bring the essence of East Africa to life. From exhilarating dance showcases to soul-stirring musical performances, our events celebrate the richness and diversity of East African heritage.

Fees for School:

  • BC Lower Mainland $1425 – per day for three – five workshops only (3-5)
    workshops without the performance.
  • For three to four workshops plus the performances, its $2100. Performance with
    no workshop, $ 1500.
  • Fraser Valley; Howe Sound $1370 per day for three to four workshops. With a performance 2050. Performance alone $ 1450.
  • For longer residencies please call (longer residencies I mean more than two days; especially for the bigger school).
